This blog created by 4 step include research, sketch, modeling, render and 3D printing or hand making, and the project connected my major product design and structure.

Function about design.

The physical product design for show my idea and structure, and The name of this physical product is called WRYWRY which can help users to relax and stretch.

WRYWRY is a cellphone holder which can relax users' neck and shoulders by it's forcing function. It can make sure users twisting the head carelessly during their working time, in which force user can easily get relax and stretch.

Research

its about why I design the device.

The context, with the development of technology, people would spend their most of time on computer. In that case, most of people have increasing chance get cervical spondylosis, mental disorder and obesity, and I would like to create a product for these people.

According to the recent reports and surveys conducted by myself, I have realised the trend that people spend most of their time on computer and it has several potential risks behind it. My product aims for solving the largest problem - neck pain.

After the investigation I found people have some normal way for decrease their uncomfortable, in which I statistics these issues and method people have. I combination with these information I found a large of people need relax in break time during working or studying, so I think I should find a convenient way for people daily relax neck.

And Its means the product size should be like a common product size that we usually use and I should using simple structure design the model, not only a useful device or more like a decoration using in our daily working place.

I came out solutions which intend to solve these problems, This was my solution idea, and In the next step, I brainstormed it and I came out solutions which intend to solve the problem-people who use computers everyday, and my product should to relase pain for those people who have to use computers everyday. then started to implement my ideas through creating models.

This is my first creative idea about model. As I said before, it is a cellphone holder will incline which can force people twisting neck to check scream clearly when you got new message.

Modeling

With the help of a software called Rhinoceros, I finished modeling. Then I used the KeyShot7 complete the final rendering. 

This is the perspective representive image.

When I modeling I cut the phone holder cover off, because I prefer simpler design especially the cover is not necessary, and the cover’s size will affect the phone size, so I deleted it.

I used yellow collar highlights every piece of design I would like to represent.

Joint this part bring the cellphone cover rotating and the main functional part just a Twisting machine,

Render

When I finished my modeling, I should render the model to be colorful and like a real physical device, it’s the best prepare way before 3D printing I thought.

3-D printing & hand making

Finally, its 3D printing, I asked my friends printed the main part of the model in China, which simulate the structural model of this mobile phone holder.

Details about the internal structures of the product and 3-D printing of the main parts, the rest of components are hand-made.
